We chose Lowndes Grove because it captures so much of what we love about Charleston — the waterfront setting, the historic architecture, and the unmistakable character of the Lowcountry. It felt like the perfect place to celebrate this next chapter with the people closest to us.

A familiar Charleston landmark

Outer Banks fans may recognize the estate as Tannyhill Plantation, the Cameron family home featured in the series.

Jake and Abby in Charleston

Our Story

From the beginning to forever

Jake and Abby are high school sweethearts who first found their way to each other at Campbell High School in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

In true Jake and Abby fashion, politics was what brought them together. After crossing paths at a political speaker event, their next three dates somehow followed the same theme. What began with shared interests and long conversations quickly became something much more.

Soon after they started dating, Jake left to begin his time in the Army while Abby finished high school and eventually headed to UNC Chapel Hill. For years, their relationship stretched between New Hampshire, Kentucky, and North Carolina, with flights to Nashville, weekends at Fort Campbell, and countless countdowns until they could be together again.

Then came even more distance. Jake deployed to Eastern Europe for nine months, and not long after he returned, Abby left to study abroad in Amman, Jordan. Through every flight, letter, “see you later,” time zone, and countdown, they kept choosing each other.

In between the miles, they made the most of every chance to make memories together. They traveled across Europe, explored new places, and filled their years with adventures — many of which Abby loved just a little more than Jake. And, in true compromise, there were plenty of trips to Disney, where Jake was always a little more excited than Abby.

After years of long distance, they finally got to share a home in Chapel Hill while Abby finished college. After graduation, life brought them to Asheville, where Jake proposed at the Biltmore Estate. Soon after, they welcomed their fur-child, Puzzle, into their little family.

While planning their wedding, Jake and Abby began spending more time in Charleston looking at venues. Somewhere between the water, the oak trees, the historic streets, and the quiet beauty of the Lowcountry, they realized they had found more than the place where they wanted to get married — they had found the place they wanted to call home.

In the summer of 2026, they bought their first house in Charleston and began the chapter they had spent years waiting for.

On April 4, 2027, they cannot wait to welcome their closest friends and family to the place they now call home and celebrate the beginning of their next chapter — surrounded by the people who have been part of their story all along.
